This magical box is perfect for storing your dice. Designed to fit a standard 7-piece dice set used in many RPGs, the lid of the box doubles as a rolling tray to keep them by your side for your entire session. Prints easily without supports. There are two versions of the lid available: a blank one, and one with an inlaid design (shown in the photos). I've also included a DXF version of the lid decal in case anyone wants to add the decal with a laser cutter or vinyl cutter instead. MaterialsIn addition to the printed parts, you will need: 12 5x2mm disc magnets; the ones I used can be found here.Glue. I used E6000, but you can use 2-part epoxy, as well. Super glue might work as well, but it tends to be less forgiving with magnets.(Optional) 1 piece of felt or foam to line the rolling tray. There are adhesive-backed materials that you can use, or you can affix the insert with rubber cement.For this project I used Cookiecad Dark Magic PLA with CC3D Silk Gold PLA for the inlays & inserts. InstructionsThese instructions assume you want to print the lid with the inlay. If you want a blank lid, you can print the blank version of the lid and skip to step 6. All parts should be printed without supports. Position dice_box_inlay and dice_box_lid in your slicer so they are in the exact same place. The inlay should fill the holes in the lid's first layer.Export separate gcode files for both parts, so they can be printed in separate materials.Print the inlay first.Without removing the inlay from your build plate, swap filaments and remove any excess plastic (purge lines, skirt, etc.) from the build plate.Print the lid on top of the inlay. You should be able to see the first layers align perfectly.Print the rest of the parts. It's recommended to print the dice_box_base_insert pieces in the same filament as the lid inlay, but this is optional.Glue the inserts into the base. For this A dab of super glue is fine, as those parts will not be under any tension.(Optional) Cut out the felt or foam insert for the lid and glue it into place.Glue the magnets into the base and lid. Make sure to have all of the magnets in one part facing the same direction, and the magnets in the lid should be facing the opposite direction from the magnets in the base. I find the simplest method is to use a metal ruler or similar object to orient all of your magnets prior to gluing, and drawing on some dots from a permanent marker to ensure they are inserted in the correct orientation.Allow the glue to cure before attempting to close the box.Fill with dice and enjoy!
