| BASIC DESCRIPTION |this is a normal 6 sided dice with outer dimensions of 16x16x16 mm that was seperated in 2 parts so that you can have a multicolor dice withouth the need of using a multicolor printerthe inner part (Dice_core) is just a normal cube, but the outer part (Dice_shell) has perforated dots to indicate numberingthe outer part comes in 2 variants Dice_shell_v1 that has 1 solid layer (thickness of 0,2 mm) on the bottom on the dice (more on the reasons why in the next paragraphs) and Dice_shell_v2 without that solid layer (just normal perforations)the beauty of this sistem is that you can have even 2 different materials for the core and the shell because the materials are mechanically connected, there is no need for glue and they do not need to adhere to one another | DESIGN DECISIONS | the edges are chamfered and not curved just because the cubes were ment to complement my 3D printed Catan set (heksagons)the one solid layer in Dice_shell_v1 helps with adhesion to the build plate and also makes the finished print cleaner - personally I prented all of the dice on the pictures with that file, but I also included the other file in case someone does not fancy making holes afterwards (but it is really quick and easy thing to do)this kind of design of a dice (with 3D printed insert) is not a new concept - there are a few more that use this kind of trick to get a 2 color printtolerances are accounted in the design so that you get a snug fit, but you do not have to put too much force to put he core into the shell | PRINT SETTINGS | usualy I do not like to include 3mf or GCODE files because I do not know what kind of printer/filament/general setup do you use, SO BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS 3MF FILE - CHECK WITH YOUR OWN SETTINGS SO YOU DON'T BREAK ANYTHING ON YOUR MACHINE!for the core I used wood filled PLA, and for the shell normal PETG (in various colors)I included only the 3mf file of the shell, not the 3mf file of the core because the settings on the core do not really matteron the 3mf file of the shell you have 2 dice that are spaced out one from another - that is on purpuse to give space ant time for the other to cool while the other one is printingalso, the settings for filament (PETG) are tweeked so that you get max cooling of the part (there is a very small footprint on some parts of the print General settings for Dice_core:0,3 mm layer height20% 3D honeycomb infillno brimminimal shell thicknes equal to the thicknes of the walls on the part (1,14 mm)2 perimeters (1,14 mm thickness) General settings for Dice_shell:0,15 mm layer heightinfill doesn't matter because you just need to set it so that everything is printed solidno brim2 perimeters (if you print with 0,15 mm layer height)M601 (pause print) command on 14 mm height
