Single piece spring loaded Filament Clamp

I store several spools of filament in a dry cabinet and they end up being tight against each other. Because of this, using the holes in the side of the spools to hold the filament end often resulted in the end breaking off and the spool getting tangled anyhow.

This was my solution, a filament clip that you press the end of the filament into the side by friction and a spring clamp to grip the roll on the next wrap. Once in place the clamp can be slid along the filament to snug up the roll.

I've printed them ABS so far, but expect other materials would work too. The first ones were printed over 2 years ago and I've not had the spring fail on any of them yet.

Designed for 1.75mm Filament.

• Material - ABS • Layer - 0.2mm • Infill - 50%

STL with and without hold down pads are provided. Simply print, remove hold down pad material if necessary, and snap (press) the hinge together.
