More information
This is a pair of clamps for front turn signal indicator holders of Honda XBR 500. The original part is a hard rubber that worn out after 30 years making the indicators hang sadly.
With this sturdy clamp they are happily straight again. New/old stock indicator holder arms for the bigger CB's are compatible.
The clamp sustains the fork angle in regards of the holder-arms position, so when they're clamped on the 35mm forks, the indicator is just flush horizontally, like the original one.
Mount with 4 long (60-65mm) M5 bolts (8mm hex head) and nuts.
The side accepts the original indicator holders (the wing-profile-like rubber with M6 thread and a tube with the wires. The M6 thread locks down with a 10mm nut, so I needed to make an incess from the inside, which is 15mm wide, in order to accept a (narrower barreled) 10mm key, so the holder arm can be fixed and it still not reach the fork tube.
There is a "worm-hole" that curves from the sides towards the back, so hides the cables as much as possible.
This is my first functional automotive part design that after many updates, finally suits my needs perfectly, so use your common sense for your needs/improvements. I'm sure it can be made even better.
Tighten bolts in a criss-cross pattern in several steps, until the distance between the two halves are even on all sides.
This is a plastic part. Don't overtighten the bolts/nuts, or you will break it and print another pair next day. Ask me how I know. :)
The plastic doesn't make any harm to the chromed tube, but you can place a piece of masking tape before installing the clamps, that can improve the grab, so even less tightening force neccessary on the bolts.
I used ASA reinforced with carbon fiber and kevlar, this makes it survive UV, rain, hot, cold and vibration.
You will need to lengthen your indicator wires by about 10cm to reach their connectors in the headlight with comfort. (You can use another pair of back indicators, they have longer wires)
