The original injection molded handle for the MacAllistar MLMP1600 Lawnmower is far too flimsy and is prone to splitting near its pivot point. (See image of blue handle)
It was impossible to find a spare online so I decided to model it myself!
This custom designed spare is stronger and fits perfectly into the original housing. (See image of green handle)
This handle has been installed on my lawnmower for 3 months now!
Print settings
PLA - 0.4mm nozzle - 0.2mm layer height
Print with support as the contact area without supports is quite small and could be prone to separating from the bed.
Suggest sanding areas that are in contact with your hand.
Both STL and F360 files are oriented for optimal printing & to keep strength where the original part broke.
Process for Repair
This drive handle is very easy to replace. To open the plastic “clamshell” remove 3 Phillips-head screws. Once removed the drive handle can be directly removed. There is no glue or fasteners. Replace the handle with your new printed part and close the clamshell.
Unfortunately you have to cut your grass now…
