This is a portable soldering kit I made from an old aliexpress T12 soldering station, powerered by a Makita tool battery. It uses a tool battery clip also available from aliexpress, ebay and the like.
If you want to build your own, you can customize the base to fit other soldering iron holders than the one in the pictures. The bracket model should fit any of the various T12 stations that use these small, extruded aluminium cases. To mount the controller, unscrew its back plate, and screw it back in sandwiched between the case shell and the printed controller bracket.
All parts are generated from a single OpenSCAD file.
To assemble, you'll need two short pieces of 2020 extrusion with threads tapped into both ends. Either V-slot or Bosch type extrusion with 6mm slot width will work, Item type extrusion with 5mm slot width will not work without some changes in the models. The length isn't critical, I'd recommend 13 cm for the vertical and 10 cm for the horizontal handle piece.
