For clamping your filament spool to prevent the loose end from crossing or tangling. I like the design concept by ishikawa, but decided to take the design in a different direction. Still a print-in-place design. There are 2 versions: using a rubber band or springs for the clamping force. These are the proper length for Prusament or similar sized spools.
Prints best in PLA with 0.2 mm quality profile. After printing, break the inner cylinder free using a large screwdriver, then work it back & forth several times until the action smooths out. Then install either the rubber band or the springs (depending on which version you printed).
A 20 mm length rubber band can be used singly. A longer band will need to be wrapped multiple times.
The spring version uses 2 springs from ballpoint pens. I designed it for the size I had on hand, which came to 28.5 mm unsprung length & 4.3 mm diameter. Slightly longer might also work. Insert one end of a spring into one of the holes located on the end of the inner cylinder first & twist while pressing it in until it's fully seated. Then position the other end into the circular indentation on the inside back of the outer cylinder. Repeat for the second spring.
