The best way to check for square is to measure opposing corners for equal distance. Using a tape measure is the common method but the tape will often not stay on the corner well. This will hold the tape measure in place with less tension required.

Instructions
Use a #12 machine screw with 2 washers and a nylock nut to secure two parts. Do not over tighten to allow the tape measure holder to swivel.
