More information

Our wall-mounted Filament Shelf has gotten a lot of popularity but what about those who can't drill holes in their walls? Worry no more with this wall-friendly free-standing unit! This design also make use of thin-walled EMT conduit which can be cheaper than wooden dowels, depending on the supplier

This is a simple free-standing shelf for filament spools designed to save storage space. The advantages of this design over running a single rod through all spools allow the user to remove any individual spool without having to take other spools off first.

Instructions

For each shelf print

• 2x Conduit Mount per shelf • 2x Conduit Mount Spacer - used to space multiple shelves in the frame

Other materials:

• 2x 1" thin-walled EMT conduit per shelf • 12x #10x1/2" screws per shelf + 16x for frame • 4x Plywood boards - used as the frame - 8.5" width minimum - board length dependent on conduit length and number of shelves • 4x Wooden 2x4's - same length as board width (8.5" minimum) • Bracing wire & hardware - it is recommended to add X bracing with wire to the back of the shelving (or use a solid back) to strengthen the frame

Material

We used PETG and but the design should be sufficiently over-engineered enough to even use PLA but PETG or ABS/ASA would work best.

We believe in the 3D printing community.

I have been involved with 3D printing since 2014 and I have developed a deep appreciation for the RepRap movement in that time. There is a significant opportunity created by not only allowing but promoting modification and free use of a technology. Students, mentors, teachers, hobbyists, and creators can use a product and learn about its use and functionality more completely and maximize the potential of it. An idea can only reach its full potential if it is shared openly.

As such, I am committed to give back to the community by publishing designs as open source and by using our technology to help those in need. Please browse our projects on here and other sites soon to come.
