Reverse Bowden Tube and Cable Holder for the Ender 3

I recently “upgraded” my Ender 3 v2 hotend to a Micro Swiss NG, a direct drive extruder. I also am running a reverse bowden setup, where i have a Capricorn bowden tube run from the Micro Swiss NG all the way back to a Sunlu Filament dryer.

Since the extruder on the stock Ender 3 v2 normally supports the bowden tube and cable bundle, you have to do something to mount it to the back of the x gantry carriage. I tried going horizontal, like it does out of the stock extruder, but it seem way too constrained. I zip tied everything to the carriage with the wire bundle and bowden tube more vertical. It worked well, especially with only 1 zip tie. It allowed the bundle to slightly flex back and forth to relieve any strain on the cables/tube going into the direct drive NG.

I knew the zip tie would eventually fail, cycling back and forth. So i created a print in place swivel cable bundle holder. No assembly required, simply print it vertically and use supports for the back side of the cable holder piece.

It mounts right where the extruder was, and really only needs 2 screws. I used M3 x 10mm screws (2 of them), with nuts and lock washers. I indented the cable holder so the zip ties wouldn't slide off. I also recommend putting a zip tie on the bundle right above the cable holder piece, to ensure the bundle doesn't slide down.

The good thing about the swivel is that it will accommodate any angle you want that wire bundle to go.
