Their drawing, standing on the shelf
A monster, a pet or the whole family, sculpted in 3D exactly as your child drew it, then printed and painted.
Your idea, made real
Children draw with total confidence. The dog has six legs, the house has a face, and Mum is taller than the house. Turning one of those drawings into a real figure, the way they drew it rather than the way an adult would tidy it up, is one of the best gifts there is, for them or for the grandparents. The trick is keeping it theirs.
The temptation with a child's drawing is to correct it, and that is exactly what we do not do. Proportions, the number of fingers, both eyes on one side of the head, all of it stays as drawn. The only changes are the ones a real object needs: something to stand on, and enough thickness in thin lines that they hold together.
A drawing is flat, so the parts nobody drew have to be invented. We keep those simple and in the same spirit as the front, and if your child has told you what the back looks like, that is what we sculpt.
You see renders before anything is printed, which is a good moment to show your child and ask whether it looks right. Then it is printed in resin and painted in their colours.
The quote comes back with a lead time before you commit. For a birthday or Christmas, put the real date in the form and we will tell you honestly whether it can be met. Posted tracked anywhere in New Zealand.
It is made to be looked at rather than played with. We thicken thin parts so it is not fragile, but for a very young child a shelf is a better home for it than the toy box.
Yes, as one piece or as separate figures. Everyone stays the way they were drawn, including who is taller than who.
Colours can be painted flat, or with some of the streaky look of crayon and felt pen. Tell us which on the form.
