You bought or downloaded the files for a figure, perhaps a 1/7 or 1/6 scale display piece, and you do not have a resin printer, the space for one, or the evenings for the painting. We have had this request through our quote form, and it is the most straightforward kind of figurine job, because the sculpt already exists. The work is printing it well and painting it properly.
What to send us
- The STL files, or a ZIP of them, uploaded with the form. Pre-split and pre-supported files are welcome, and so are files that are neither.
- The licence terms for the files, so we can check they allow someone else to print them for you.
- The height or scale you want it printed at.
- Reference images for the paint scheme: the renders that came with the files, or the colours you want instead.
- Your base preference: the one in the files, a plain base, or none.
How a big figure is printed and finished
A display figure at 25cm or more is usually printed in parts and joined, which is how most of these files are designed to be printed anyway. We print in resin for the finest detail, remove the supports and clean the contact points back, then assemble it and tidy the joins before any paint goes on.
Painting is by hand. Tell us the standard you are after: a clean, even finish, or display standard with shading, highlights and the fine detail picked out. Display standard is quoted individually because it is hours of work per piece.
If the licence on the files does not allow someone else to print them, we will tell you before quoting rather than after. Most commercial-use tiers do allow it.
Size, material and finish
- Size
- Whatever the files are designed for. Extra large, 25cm or more, is common for 1/7 and 1/6 scale display pieces.
- Material
- Resin, for the finest detail in faces, hair and fabric.
- Colour
- Hand painted, full colour, or single colour and unpainted if you would rather paint it yourself.
- Base
- The base from the files, a plain base, an engraved one, or none.
- Finish
- Standard, matte or gloss.
How long it takes
A quote comes back within one working day. A large figure takes longer to print than a small one, and hand painting takes longer than either, so the quote gives you a lead time for your figure before you commit. Once it is finished it is posted tracked anywhere in New Zealand.
Questions
Can you print a figure I bought from a Patreon or a file store?
If the licence lets a third party print it for you, yes. Send the licence terms with the files and we check before we print. We will not print something whose licence forbids it.
Can I get it printed and paint it myself?
Yes. Choose single colour, unpainted, on the form. It arrives with the supports removed and the contact points cleaned back, ready for primer.
What if my files are not pre-supported?
That is fine. Supporting a model well is part of printing it, and we orient and support it ourselves.
